About
As a science communication specialist I work in a range of capacities including program consulting, strategic communications, qualitative research, teaching, public speaking, and leading creative science film and multimedia projects.
My current research investigates the communication behaviours and skills of modern science and environmental heroes, and explores factors contributing to their success. Over the last 2 years I've interviewed some of the top scientists and communicators of our times, including David Attenborough, David Suzuki, Paul Davies and many Nobel Laureates. Expected completion of the project is early 2012.
I've also worked on many fascinating science and technology communication projects around the world. Some of my favourite projects include:
* Building a network for emerging science and factual filmmakers, supporting the communication of science through visual means and bringing filmmakers and scientists together.

* Creating and coordinating the Great Canberra Science Scramble, a major science awareness project for the Canberra region. With a free map to navigate by and four competitions to enter, the project involved creating original concepts, print and online resources, social networking opportunities and cross-platform advertising.

* Developing mass participation experiments and events that get people excited about science and technology - for example, the Giant Jump (2001), which set a new world record.

* Working with partner organisations to describe science communication in Australia and New Zealand, creating resources in support of Australia's bid for the Square Kilometre Array project. http://www.ska.edu.au/educators/
* Hosting and moderating international video conferences and events, to encourage discussion between scientists, public audiences and students.

* Creating the experimental short film, Robot World, which explores the implications for society of emerging robotic technologies. The film won a 2009 Scinema award and has formed the basis for a website, teacher professional development and live events

* Working with students across England to create a review of the school science curriculum (2002)
